OUR SAGA
The Origin Story of Bucallahanan
One fateful day, a lady named Mackenzie ventured to a local vineyard in search of sweet libations. There she met a handsome barkeep, Mr. Peter Callahan, who had the brightest smile she had ever seen. After drooling after him for hours, the flushed Mackenzie found some wine-induced courage to ask her friend to ask him if he might maybe want to possibly give her his number, if that wasn’t too forward.
Many moons passed before their courtship began, but when it did you’d be hardpressed to find one without the other. He wooed her with wine, long hikes, and building massive snowmen named Gumdrop. He even started watching Doctor Who to win her dorky heart. For Peter, Mackenzie vowed to learn something called “sports” and tried her frightened legs at skiing.
Getting-to-know-you days extended into I’ve-known-you-forever months, and after ten of them, Mackenzie moved into Peter’s cottage by the lake. She learned to cook (kinda) and he...continued to clean (constantly). Together, they took many journeys to new lands and seas, exploring sky-scraped cities and fairy-dwelling waterfalls. When they finished one rotation around the sun together, a wee lioness named Arya came to them with offers of endless kitty cuddles and cuteness in exchange for fancy feast and curtain sacrifices.

Then one stunning day on the 12th of May, Peter asked Mackenzie to go on a spontaneous adventure to summit a Ragged Mountain. As they trekked, Mackenzie laughed at how swollen her fingers were getting, oblivious to Peter’s racing heartbeat and shaking hands. Finally, they reached an expansive cliff, overlooking what seemed like all of Connecticut. Mackenzie was confused as Peter led her to the edge and held her in his arms, but all became clear as she heard a buzzing sound and saw a white drone-bird flying their way. Mackenzie turned to Peter in disbelief as he dropped to one knee and...well, you can see the rest below. :)

Meghan Buchanan: Dame of Distinction
Meghan has been Mackenzie’s full-time Sister Boss for the past 28 years. Dancer, cook, fingernail painting aficionado, and corgi enthusiast, Meghan is the Director of Dance at Westover School in Middlebury, CT. Touted “Mother Meghan” for a reason, she is the caretaker and decision-maker in this group of often painfully indecisive people.
Eleanor Barisser: Beat Boss
Ever since their pre-natal friendship, Eleanor and Mackenzie have embarked on a number of fruitless artistic endeavors: girl bands, poetry sales, liquor store photo shoots, and Blair Witch Project parodies. When she isn’t teaching dance, Eleanor spends her free time bonding with cats, drooling over abandoned cars, photographing rusty farm equipment, and making party playlists.
Lily Bodenlos: Festive Fairy
Lily is queen of the quirky gift and continues to practice her flair for decoration, party games, and all-around good time. When she isn’t painting rainbow wall murals or blowing bubbles with her pit bull, Lily can be seen dancing alongside Mackenzie, whom she has known the majority of her life. The group would be remiss without Lily’s personality, her themed leggings, and her knowledge of Super Fun Word Game.
Tatiana Da Silva: Mistress of Magic
Tatiana, self-appointed graduate of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (Ravenclaw), is a long time dance friend of Mackenzie’s. Craft fiend, autumn lover, and parent to handsome dog, Tatiana is a Judicial Law Clerk at the Connecticut Appellate Court. She is known to keep the kind of home in which everything has its place, often inciting the jealousy of her sloppier friends.
Dana Olson: Goddess of the Games
As roommates in the Lutheran Volunteer Corps, Mackenzie and Dana became fast friends while binge watching Bones, sharing outfits, running up Phinney Ridge, eating spicy Thai noodles, and reading poetry. From "what you don't want to be when you grow up" parties to running in the rain, laughter abounds when these two are together. While Mackenzie and Dana now live states apart, Dana works at Mackenzie's alma mater as a way to stay close to her dear Mackenzie.

If you choose to stay on site with us (and we would love you to!), no need to call and reserve a room. You can let us know what night(s) you will be staying when you RSVP, and we'll make the arrangements.

AIRPORTS
F.A.Q.
**Please note: both the ceremony and the reception will be outside (weather-permitting).
What is the dress code?
There is no formal code for the ceremony and reception, but as Peter and I will be all fancy, we recommend cocktail attire
(somewhere between ballgowns/tuxes and jeans). Keep in mind when choosing shoes that the ceremony will be on a beach and you’ll be walking on some dirt paths and uneven ground.
The rest of the weekend will be casual!
Is it open bar?
Pretty much! For the reception, we’re having what’s called a “modified full bar,” meaning we’ll have beer, wine, and the liquor basics (rum, vodka, whiskey, gin, and tequila).
For the rest of the weekend, you’re welcome to BYOB! You are allowed (and encouraged) to bring whatever you like. :)
Are children allowed?
We invite all kiddos to stay with us for the weekend and attend the ceremony; however, babysitters will be provided for them for the reception (playtime for the parents!). Parents who have really wee ones (under 2) are of course welcome to keep their kids with them during the reception. If you have any questions or concerns, we’d be happy to talk with you!
I’m staying overnight at the camp. What do I need to bring?
The camp does not provide linens (sheets, blankets, towels, pillows), so you can either bring your own (twin size unless told otherwise) or rent them through us. If you choose to rent them, please send $29 per person.
We will also be having yoga on Saturday morning, so feel free to bring your yoga mat! There will be some provided, as well.
I’m staying at the hotel. Will there be transportation provided?
Alas, we do not have transportation prearranged for those staying at the Days Inn or any other hotel. Please contact us if you would like assistance!
